New Look, New Connections

If you visit our website with any frequency, you’ll have noticed some renovations recently. Today, our new look is in public “beta” mode.

The main difference is that it’s clean. Gone is the black background and excess images. In it’s place the easy on the eyes white background, with greyish text. Navigation to the main parts of the site are at the top and the side, as are links to our presence on our social media sites.

On those subjects, our Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr groups are standbys, as is the ability to check-in with us on Foursquare (or follow us, though being a radio station we don’t move much). Ustream is one of your options for our live online feed and you can scrobble along with last.fm.

Mixcloud

The two new ones we’d like to draw your attention to are Mixcloud and Tumblr. First Mixcloud. You may have noticed that our podcast feeds have dried up as of late. To make a long story short, the service we previously used to publish our shows has moved away from the audio distribution service. While we figure out how best to move forward, a few of our volunteers have hopped onto Mixcloud. It’s an online streaming service aimed at re-thinking radio for the digital age. We believe in letting our listeners listen to us when and where they want, and Mixcloud has an easy to use follow/follower model. So far UNBC Sports Studio, Almost Mainstream, and Thanks, Babe have moved in this direction, and if it works out, more to come– keep your eyes on our Mixcloud group as more come on board.

Tumblr

Tumblr is something we’ve tried in the past, but are jumping on again. If you’re not familiar, it’s a micro-blogging service great for sharing pictures, audio, quotes, and more. We’ve started up a new one and are going to do just that– follow along there for multimedia entertainment (like this new song from Nathan Kelly and the Arbitrarys).

Blog

As for this space, we’re going to keep on using it for news and updates. Some series are in the works, too– more on that as we move into 2012.

So, what do you think? Let us know what you think (or if you notice any mistakes– this is still beta) in the comments on here, or on Facebook/Twitter!
