DESCRIPTION:

The COC works under the Station Manager and closely with the Volunteer Coordinator. The COC manages all public engagement events through the duration of the year. Cultural events, community celebrations, and a commemoration of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation are to be planned and delivered by this role. They are central in engaging youth. They will represent the organization in the community, serving as a pivotal liaison, between connecting community members to services our nonprofit organization provides on and off campus.

At 10 hours per week, The Music Director position provides a great opportunity to discover how the music industry operates.

EMPLOYMENT TERM: January to April, 2018

DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Station Manager, the Music Director has responsibility for determining and overseeing an appropriate mix of musical content for the radio station through maintaining CFUR’s ever-expanding music library and Northern British Columbia Audio Archive. This must reflect the interests and tastes of the listening community we serve; by the solicitation and review of recordings; and for maintaining the standards of quality for the music we program. This position will include work on both newly received and older music within the library on LP, Cassette, CD, and digital formats.

UN Day of the Child

Today if you tune into CFUR you may hear something a little different. This is because today and tomorrow we are broadcasting "Radio Change the World" on the United Nations Children's Day.

From November 20th at noon to midnight on the 21st the voices and stories of youth will be featured on community radio stations across Canada.

Dozens of youth voices will be heard, on topics ranging from education to suicide to LGBTQ+ teen issues and more. The broadcast also features a special piece of music written to remember all the youth who died this past year by Toronto artist Karis. 

Tune in 88.7 CFUR to take a listen and celebrate Children's Day.
