Tickets for Tiesto

Over the last year, there’s been a big growth in Prince George’s electronic scene– just look at CFUR’s new shows, Dance to Trance, Basshead Radio, and Databass, if you want proof. As if that weren’t enough, now the world’s biggest DJ is coming to town on April 27. That’s right, Tiesto will be playing live at the CN Centre– and we want to help you get there.

All you need to do is tune in to the beat.wav block of programming on Saturday nights, starting at 6 pm through until 9. During that time, our DJs will explain how to win that night’s tickets (It will be something like calling a specific number, watching a youtube video we’ve posted or knowledge based)

If you qualify, then yourself along with others who qualify are put in to a hat and one name is drawn at random to win two floor tickets for yourself and a friend!

*NOTE* : Dislike battling odd’s to win a prize? Dramatically increase your chance of winning by entering in on the next weekend. We’re keeping records of those who enter, so if you’ve entered once before and didn’t win, enter again the following weekend and we’ll increase your odds. Here’s how it works :

Weekends consecutively entered :

First entery : 1 slip

2 weekends : 2 slips

4 weekends : 3 slips

6 weekends : 4 slips

7 weekends : 5 slips

(The slips are what we write your name on and draw out to decide the winner. Once you win you can’t re-enter, just so it’s fair for everyone else. Weekends MUST be consecutive, if you miss a weekend your odds go back to normal!)

So tune in to CFUR Radio, 88.7 fm or online at cfur.ca/listen, follow beat.wav on Facebook, and enjoy the show!

Contemporary Classics

Tune in to CFUR 88.7 FM for a brand-new episode of “Everybody’s Got One”, Prince George’s favourite hour of unwanted opinions and off-side observations.

This week, we try our hand at cultured criticism with The Price of Milk OST (2000) featuring an array of renowned Russian composers, including Liadov, Tcherepnin, Rimsky-Korsakov and Rachmaninov.  Then, fresh off their sold-out performance at the Coldsnap Festival 2011, we venture into the great unknown with Vancouver’s Brasstronaut and their inaugural LP, Mt. Chimaera (2010).

Fed up with our sophomoric ramblings?  Then give us what-for at getone@cfur.ca.

Last Week’s Reviews:

If this album were electric kool-aid, it would be…

Roky Erickson: True Love Cast Out All Evil (2010)

Roy:   Classic orange              Daniel:  Electric blue

Black Mountain: Wilderness Heart (2010)

Roy:   Half grape, half water    Daniel:  “The one with the tsunami on it”

You’re a Needy Girl

As promised, Bad, Not Cheap cannot commit to a time slot, and once again it has moved to a new time.

Catch it at a permanent new time, Tuesdays from 3-4pm.

This week features some great tracks by Chromeo, Shad, Feist, and Regina Spektor.
