Bike Registration

0572-Prince-George-RCMP-Building-Sign-e1470349998134.jpg

If you want to keep your bike a little more safe, you are going to want to head to one of the upcoming bike registry events. The Prince George RCMP will be at different locations this weekend and week where you can go and register your bike with them. The registration only takes about 5 minuets and is absolutely free, just show up with your bike! It is meant to reduce thefts (when someone reports a theft on the app, other riders in the area will be notified) and make it easier for the RCMP to find stolen bikes. Its all done through a program called 529 Garage .For more info on the program itself go to https://project529.com/garage The registry events are:

Saturday August 6th, 8am-4pm, at Otway

Sunday August 7th, 8am-4pm, at Otway

Monday August 8th, 5pm- 8pm at the CN Centre Parking Lot

Wednesday August 10th, 5pm- 8pm, at the PG RCMP Detachment, 455 Victoria Street

It's a quick easy way  to register your bike, and limit the chance that it could get stolen.

Things heating up on Otway rezoning Debate

cityhall-2010

Photo from City of Prince George Website

Things got a bit heated at city council on Monday when proponents and opponents spoke to L&M Engineering's application to have 6161 Otway Rd rezoned. The application would have the property rezoned to light industrial use, which is to the dismay of many residents of North Nechako. Last night's meeting was the second hearing about this application and it will go on to Wednesday May 11 at 6pm for a third session.

According to the residents of North Nechako the change would result in an increase of noise, water, air and light pollution. The residents kept reminding city council that the property sits above a delicate aquifer and having the property rezoned would increase the risk of contamination. Opponents made many presentations to city council ranging from the professional to the offensive. Mayor Lyn Hall had to reign in a couple presenters for use of antagonizing, or offensive language.

The proponents have stated that concerns to the project have been blown out of proportion. The area already has industrial business, and a CN rail line, that cause noise, air, and light pollution already. This according to the opponents existed in the area for years and in the residents don't like it they should not of bought in the area. Jack Fomenoff who is one of the applicants, stated that he "tired of the attacks" and made an off the cuff comment about possibly pursuing legal action.

This week I ramble like a mofo because I drank all the caffeine. Mayonnaise is mentioned. Good luck and congrats to all the students out there for getting 'er done! https://www.mixcloud.com/britt-meierhofer/this-is-britt-am-episode-14-the-students-relax-its-almost-over-episode/

YouTube Round-Up / April 7, 2016

Psychedelic-Hallmark-Calendar1.jpg

Here are a few note-worthy videos kickin' around on the YouTube these days. Disclaimer: CFUR Radio cannot be held liable if you end up 3.5 hours deep in clips of American newscasters being edited to rap Gin & Juice, or whatever.

Golden Days — Whitney

One cold winter in Chicago, IL, Julien Ehrlich of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Max Kakacek of Smith Westerns got together and wrote some songs.  The resulting sound could be described as dreamy folk littered with elements of indie pop-rock, or something along those lines.  Hear for yourself on their bandcamp page, on YouTube, or live in Vancouver on April 26 at the Biltmore.

P.S. Whitney's first LP is set to be released June 3, 2016 !!

Everytime x Twin Peaks Theme — Britney Spears x Angelo Baladamenti

Someone on Tumblr put the vocal track to Britney Spears' Everytime (2003) over the Twin Peaks theme song (1990).  It is beautiful and haunting and everything I could have asked for from the internet.

Andy Shauf — Jenny Come Home | A Take Away Show

La Blogothèque's Take Away Shows are always time well-wasted, and this show of Andy Shauf's in particular is nice.  A pie chart illustrating the niceness of it would show a medium-sized slice entitled "warm, sunny, Parisian spring vibes," a smaller slice for "breezy editing," and a big slice dedicated to "Andy's prairie boy accent."
