Big Shiny Tunes Tribute Show
It’s no secret that bringing back the late 90s-early 2000s had a couple hiccups in order for a nostalgic night to appear in PG. But here we are, in the afterglow of a certainly sick show that couldn’t have happened without the help of Omineca Arts Centre, our beloved local musicians, volunteers and audience participants. (And of course our sponsors who made the silent auction a treasure trove!)
Another big hand goes to our fearless leader/Community Outreach Coordinator, Kate, who spearheaded this amazing idea of hers! WOW. If you’d like to see the full photo set of this night head on over to our facebook!
CFUR in 2019
CFUR would like to wish everyone a prosperous 2019!
Is there such a thing as wishing a belated Happy New Year? In any case, this is the week that our staff is back in office and our beloved volunteers are well underway in their studies and daily schedules.
You can expect to be hearing some fresh Canadian content on our radio waves so be sure to tune in anew! If you don’t have a New Year’s resolution, you can make following us on Facebook an easily achieved goal.
Speaking of which, if you already follow us on FB you might have seen our photos from the Rachelle Van Zanten album release show with The Brain Porter at The Croft! If not, this post will serve as a retrospective for that glorious night in December 2018. That’s what the first month of the year is all about, isn’t it?
Thanks to everyone who came out that night to share in this amazing show! May 2019 bring more events like this one!

The Burying Ground
If you're looking for something to do tomorrow (June 9th) , consider checking out the The Burying Ground , playing at the Legion. They are an upbeat blues string band that brings the fire of punk to the technical prowess and distinct sounds of early blues, country and jazz masters as Blind Blake, Bessie Smith, Gary Davis, Jimmie Rodgers and many others. This trio, featuring Woody Forster on guitar and vocals, Devora Laye on washboard, saw, and vocals along with Joseph Lubinsky-Mast on upright bass, just released their newest album, and play a mix of original material alongside reinvented older songs. They strive to create a lively and gritty sound that is reminiscent of the music of the juke joints and jazz halls of the 1920s and '30s.
The doors open at 8pm, with the show starting at 9pm. As well, the cover fee for this performance is $10.
If you’re in the mood for blues, go check out The Burying Ground tomorrow night!
