Celtic Fire: Update
May 13 marks the beginning of the as-of-this-year-unnamed Countdown to Summer season of the show…don’t know WHY I have not thought of doing this before…like I do every year in the lead-up to Christmas…but here we are. I will be going on summer holiday effective July 1 - which is also the scheduled date of the last Celtic Fire show of this season until September. Be sure to tune in to find out what I have in store each week!
Celtic Fire: Season 17 Episode 23
Brand new theme song and focus artists begin today with Larach do thacadean by Alasdair Roderts and Màiri Morrison. Along with that begins the annual look back at various theme songs that I've had over the past 17 seasons of Celtic Fire beginning with Canadians Mary Jane Lamond, The Rankins, and Lewis Mackinnon. Tune in for that and many more as the annual Countdown to Summer begins!
Celtic Fire: Season 17 Episode 22
Happy Mother's Day! There's a Mother's Day theme this week.
It is also the final week for the focus artists: Alex Kusturok, Mairi MacMillan, and the trad album from CBC Records Comhla Cruinn. Tune in for that and more!
Celtic Fire: Season 17 Episode 21
I’m back! Lots of activity these past two months made making shows difficult so I had to take a hiatus. Nevertheless, I’m back with great tunes from the likes of Alex Kusturok, Hailee Lefort, Mairi Macmillan, Joy Dunlop, Joanne Macintyre and many more!
Do you have thoughts on CFUR's accessibility?
CFUR is moving forward with our accessibility plan, and we want YOUR feedback! We want our plan to consider and addresses all potential barriers for staff, volunteers, and the public. Our plan is officially reviewed four times annually and we’re hoping to get feedback and suggestions from our community, audience, and partners to make sure we can get on track to meet everyone’s needs.
You can read our accessibility plan by clicking here. If you’ve read that and want to share your thoughts you can find our survey by clicking on the hamburger menu in the upper right corner of our website, selecting “Contact Us” and then clicking on “Audience Feedback” (or by clicking here).
Our process for getting feedback on the plan can be found by clicking here.
We offer this survey in several alternative formats. It can be taken over the phone (by appointment), in-person at the station (by appointment), and over digital platforms such as Zoom.
Please reach out to policy@cfur.ca and CC stationmanager@cfur.ca to arrange such an appointment, or call 250-960-7664.
Calling all Graduate Students!
We’re looking to get feedback on our services from the graduate students of UNBC! CFURadio has started a survey just for unbc grad students so that we can hear your suggestions, comments, and ideas. Take some time out of your day to share your thoughts with us!
You can reach our survey by clicking here or by clicking on the little hamburger menu in the upper right corner of our website, select “Contact Us” and then click on “Audience Feedback.” The survey is at the bottom of the page. While you’re there, you can check out our other surveys too! (What FUN!)

The good folks of the music distribution world are hard at work in your town changing the catalogues daily at places like 2nd thoughts Buy & Sell where you can find fresh pressings of the best hard-to-find classics you can imagine, plus new releases of that GarOOvy stuff we play on CFUR 88.7fm (why not check out the Afro-Caribbean Store next door while you’re at it), there’s Sunrise Records with nothing but shiny new black lacquer, and more to peruse at Electron, Sound Factory, London Drugs. Heck if music isn’t your thing today, there’s even a book sale down at the PG Public Library from 10am to 3pm today.
If you really want a full circle music madness day, you could land for lunch at Buskers Diner, and cap off the evening at the Peeg Leeg for a Mad Loon show, tonight it’s Patchwork w/ Simbiyez Wilson
