British Columbia Wildfires

As many of you are aware of by now, British Columbia has been in a state of emergency  as of July 8th due to the numerous wildfires throughout the province.

Prince George has set up a headquarters for evacuees at the College of New Caledonia. For those of you coming from a part of province affected by fire you are requested to register first at the reception centre at the College of New Caledonia, which is located along Highway 97 just north of the intersection with Highway 16. The address for the College of New Caledonia is 3330 22 Avenue in Prince George, or view directions to the location in the image below. Registration is set up in the atrium at the college right at the main entrance, and then you will be helped with finding lodging.

For residents wanting to help you can donate to the BC Fire Appeal the Canadian Red Cross at https://goo.gl/6KBgtr. Although donations of food and clothing are kind, it can cause more difficulties than be helpful, so the city asks that you stick to monetary donations

For those wishing to provide accommodation there are multiple social media groups you may post on including the official City of Prince George page: www.facebook.com/cityofpg
