Prince George BC - CFURadio 88.7 FM (CFUR) and The Community Arts Council of Prince George & District (CAC) today announced a new collaborative initiative entitled “Culture Confluence”, a six-month program that will introduce local artists and cultural organizations to podcasting technology, resulting in approximately 14 podcasting episodes concerning the local arts and culture scene to be broadcast by CFUR.
This new program is intended to serve a very broad audience, not only the listening audience of CFUR, but all community members, ranging from students to seniors, multi-cultural sectors, Indigenous individuals and organizations, the local business community and those who are championing positive social change for the region.
“This program is very much about shining a light on the rich diversity that exists in Prince George's social fabric,” says Ian Gregg. CFUR Station Manager. “The staff and volunteers at the station are excited to provide an accessible platform for individuals within the broader community to participate in the creation of podcasts to promote local arts and culture, and other initiatives that are working to improve our community.”
Individuals or groups who participate in the creation of podcast episodes will benefit from developing relationships with CFUR personnel as well as getting a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the process involved in recording and editing episodes. Podcast episodes will be broadcast on-air by CFUR and will also be available in digital format from a podcasting streaming service.
“This is a unique opportunity for partnership between the CAC and CFUR in order to help create bridges between the UNBC community, our local arts and culture sector, and the Prince George community-at-large,” says Sean Farrell, Executive Director of the CAC. “We are especially excited that there will be a cross-generational impact by having people from various age brackets working alongside the younger talent at CFUR. This will provide a unique learning and relationship-forming opportunity for everyone involved.”
Funding for this program is provided by the City of Prince George, the Prince George Community Foundation, and the CAC.

About CFURadio FM 88.7:
CFUR-FM is a Canadian FM radio station, broadcasting at FM 88.7 in Prince George, British Columbia. A campus radio station based at the University of Northern British Columbia. The "FUR" (as it is known colloquially) is governed by the CFUR Radio Society, a non-profit corporation consisting of students and other community members who promote CFUR via membership drives, fundraisers, and on-air broadcasting. The station was originally licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on September 12, 2001 as a developmental campus/community station, a licence process created by the CRTC to encourage and streamline the creation of campus and community radio stations. The Community Arts Council of Prince George & District (“CAC”) was established in 1968 to respond to a growing need to expand the reputation of artistic endeavours throughout the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.
