Important COVID-19 Info from the College of Pharmacists BC

The College of Pharmacists and the Ministry of Health have just announced new measures in regards to medication refills during the COVID-19 pandemic. The highlights are summarized below.

Patients who require a refill of their regular medications do not need to visit a doctor or nurse practitioner for an updated prescription.
Instead, a pharmacist can provide patients with a refill or emergency supply of their medications. This also includes controlled drugs and substances such as opioid agonist therapy.

Important things to note:

  • Do not stockpile medications. You do not need more than a month’s supply. This is harmful to the drug supply and could put others at risk.

  • Do not visit a pharmacy in-person if: you are experiencing symptoms or are self-isolating

  • As always, talk with your pharmacist regarding what is best for your situation
