The West Kootenay People Who Support the Wet’suwet’en will be hosting a 2 day online benefit concert, streaming through Facebook, for the Wet’suwet’en that you can attend from your own living room!

Throughout the event guests like Land Defender Hujune Sabina Dennis, and Antonia Mills who worked on the Delgamuukw case, will speak to the audience about Wet’suweten Land Defenders and their struggle to have their sovereign land rights and title recognized. Musical performers include: The Dream Heavy Project, Amy Blanding, The Brain Porter, Steve Marc, Danielea Castelle, Stephen Lewis, Small Town Artillery, Kym Gouchie, The Northwest Kid, Mr. Vibacious, The Om Sound, Rachelle Van Zanten, Genevieve Jade, Ole Man Kidd, Diemm, Moontricks and more musical performers and guest speakers will be announced as the date approaches!

The Facebook event will also serve as an online art auction with items that you can bid on from home in the days leading up to the event. See the event for more details! The Unist’ot’en Camp has been a beacon of resistance for nearly 10 years. It is a healing space for Indigenous people and settlers alike, and an active example of decolonization. The violence, environmental destruction, and disregard for human rights following TC Energy (formerly TransCanada) / Coastal GasLink’s interim injunction has been devastating to witness, but this is far from over! Join, Friday, April 3rd at 5:00pm and on Saturday, April 4th at 5:00pm to learn about the Wet’suwet’en Land Defenders in Canada.
