Opportunities to participate in Black History Month & multicultural awareness strengthen in Prince George

Each year, February brings a reason to learn & celebrate with Black History Month. This 2025 witnesses a wider array of options than recent memory provides. Cynthia Williams, UNBC Office of Equity & Inclusion’s Project Manager, spoke with CFURadio about renewing their Magnifying Black Voices program, providing bursary and mentorship opportunities for UNBC students.

The office also presents an EDIA Speaker Series throughout 2025 as a recurring opportunity to engage with serious topics and address inequities in our communities, lives, and workplaces. Additionally, the College of New Caledonia hosts a number of events including a soccer tournament on the 15th, 16th, & 23rd of the month.

Capping off the month though, Patrick Offiah of Afro PG wants to bring in the Afrobeat sound with a Lagos In Nigeria club event at the downtown venue, Ignite. He plans not only to connect the Prince George community with the event, but promises plenty of dancing too.
