SexPlus week pushes for everyday conversations around sexual health

As the national SexPlus campaign amplifies the conversation around sexual health across the country, Positive Living North (PLN) has been a consistent local resource for those living with an HIV+ diagnosis in northern BC since 1992. Over the years it’s expanded its mandate to promote general sexual health and wellness across the region. A key week of advocacy for the organization has fallen in and around Valentine’s Day under the nationally recognized banner of Sexual Health Week, which is being rebranded this year as SexPlus.

Education Manager Vibusha Madanayake explains that while treatment is vital, prevention is key, as over 60,000 people in Canada live with HIV. PLN is taking advantage of SexPlus week to expand their message to also addresses rising rates of other sexually transmitted infections, such as syphilis in Northern BC.
