Regional governments go to the mall with emergency preparedness info sessions

Pine Centre Mall in Prince George–Lheidli T’enneh is the site not only of convenient retail this weekend, but also consolidated emergency preparedness sessions offered through our regional governments.

Often partnering during times of emergency, Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, Fraser-Fort George Regional District, and the City of Prince George have collaborated to provide a two day informational session, from March 28th-29th. As the city’s Manager of Emergency Programs, Tanya Spooner, states, “Emergency events don’t respect municipal boundaries so we need to learn how to work together.”

While Northern BC life has made many aware of the dangers surrounding fires and floods, other hazards are addressed at the open-house, with wildfire being number 10 on the top ten list of the city’s Hazard Risk Assessment Report. Sessions ranging from fire-smarting your property to applying traditional medicine will be held hour to hour over the two day period.
