Lheidli T’enneh to elect Chief and newly-expanded Council on April 9th

Just shy of a thousand members, the Lheidli T’enneh nation is hosting an election to select their Chief and Council soon, but the number of Council members is changing this year from five to eight. A finalized candidate listing is on the Lheidli T’enneh facebook page, and nation members can expect to hear a few more pitches before the big day.

Todd Corrigall, a Senior Public Affairs Advisor who works closely with the nation, joined CFURadio in the studio to get into some nitty gritty details. Corrigall gave us an overview of paper ballot counting, term limits, some of the nuances that exist when operating within Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), and the Ministry of Indigenous Relations & Reconciliation (MIRR), and the challenge of generally getting things done amidst it all. The polling station is open at the Nation’s Administration office in Shelley from 9:00am to 8:00pm, April 9th, 2025.
