Thanks to a grants from the  Canadian Radio Fund of Canada, and Canadian Summer Jobs, CFUR 88.7 FM is holding its second annual Radio Camp for youths. Participating youth will be encouraged to learn the art of radio based story telling, reporting & entertainment along with important technical skills relating to production and editing. CFUR_YOUTH_ACADEMY

 

In this ever changing media landscape it is important for those who are interested in pursuing a future in this discipline to accumulate as many skills as possible and mentorship is key.

The hope of the camp is that participants will have a lot of fun and learn to work as a team. It’s all about making the opportunity available. Everybody has a passion. It might be bugs, track & field, drawing, string-theory, or it might be radio... You’ll never know unless you’re allowed to try! We make that possible in a safe environment.

Mental Health Matters

This week, Britt AM talks matters of the mind. She provides mental health resources for those that may be struggling, and dishes on some weird dreams she's been having, while slinging some of today's dreamiest tracks. If you are in crisis, you can call 310-6789 (do not add 604, 778 or 250 before the number). This number will connect you to your local BC crisis line without a wait or busy signal, 24 hours a day. UNBC students brave weather to raise money for homelessness

You may of noticed a group of students sleeping outside at UNBC. This may of made you think, what in the world are they doing? Well, these students are part of a national campaign known as 5 Days for the Homeless. The group at UNBC is raising money for the local society, Community Partners Addressing Homelessness. We reached out to Bridget Russell to find out more about 5 Days and how people can support them.

NUGSS Election Results

The Northern Undergraduate Student Society held their election over March 20th -21st, and here are the results. Along with the student representatives who were elected so was a referendum question. A pamphlet given out by NUGSS characterizes the question for the student to understand. "As a member of the Undergraduate Student Society, you "As a member of the Undergraduate Student Society, you have a say in whether or not you want your student fees to increase by $6.50. The first goal of this fee is to ensure the Thirsty Moose Pub continues to be operated by the society into the following school years."
