The College of Pharmacists and the Ministry of Health have just announced new measures in regards to medication refills during the COVID-19 pandemic. The highlights are summarized below.
Patients who require a refill of their regular medications do not need to visit a doctor or nurse practitioner for an updated prescription.
Instead, a pharmacist can provide patients with a refill or emergency supply of their medications. This also includes controlled drugs and substances such as opioid agonist therapy.
Important things to note:
Do not stockpile medications. You do not need more than a month’s supply. This is harmful to the drug supply and could put others at risk.
Do not visit a pharmacy in-person if: you are experiencing symptoms or are self-isolating
As always, talk with your pharmacist regarding what is best for your situation
For more information and updates you can visit bcpharmacists.org/COVID19
The official release from the College can be read below:
Stay safe everyone.
There may be little, to NO, aspects of our lives unaffected by the COVID 19 outbreak before all of this is said and done. We can pull though this together. Please treat one another with mutual respect, and practice careful hygiene at the same time.
This event is still on :) ….
Yes the Radiothon is hosted on the Radio, and is therefore somewhat insulated from all the happenings, but only somewhat. Some of our hosts do not have a safe method of coming form and to the station, the environment some have to pass through in order to arrive at the station may be unsafe. The campus itself may be unsafe at times. It’s all hard to say. Between that and some of the gatherings we had planned for the week, the Radiothon is looking a little different now than when it was being planned several weeks ago. It carries on, as we feel that campus-commuinity radio plays an important role in our community, and in times such as this. If you feel the same way, please support us by donating what you can at www.cfur.ca/radiothon
We have had to pull the plug a few of our events, both in and out of our studio. The Two major events that you would be most likely be affected by are the CD sale and the CFURadiothon Wrap-Up Showcase Party. They are cancelled, we are so sorry, but we feel it is safest decision to make in light of current events regarding the COVID 19 outbreak.
Something you CAN still participate in, from the comfort of your bedroom, car, or parkbench is CFURadiobingo!
Check it out, it will be lots of fun, and you can win $100 ;) how cool!

Good afternoon all,
In light of COVID-19, UNBC’s Interim President, Geoff Payne, has posted an update regarding classes and the rest of the semester.
You can attribute comments in that message directly to him if you like.
The link to UNBC’s COVID-19 update is below
www.unbc.ca/coronavirus/updates
At this time, UNBC is asking faculty and staff to transition classes to alternate delivery models. The last day of face-to-face classes will be Wednesday March 18. This self-imposed date may move earlier but it will not move later. We will complete the semester, including assessments and exams, using alternative service delivery models.
UNBC campus remains open. Services such as the library, food services, Northern Sport Centre, and student housing will remain open. Some service levels may need to be changed, or have already changed (such as food services) in order to support public health.
Tips for handling and preventing the spread of COVID-19
Pay close attention to advice coming from public health agencies.
As outlined in BC Centre for Disease Control guidelines, wash your hands regularly.
Avoid touching your face.
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough, and cough into your elbow.
Avoid traditional greetings, such as handshakes or hugs.
Practice social distancing – keep your distance from other people when practical.
Those with pre-existing medical conditions should work with their supervisor and human resources to develop plans.
