Craft fairs and farmers markets offer alternatives to corporate shopping, as does the lesser known Prince George Public Interest Research Group’s (PGPIRG) Good Store at UNBC, now featuring hair and body care products from the local Naughty Soap Company.
Naughty Soap began with humorous penis and vulva-shaped soaps aiming to evoke laughter, and grew into breaking stigma around body conversations. Owner Michelle Biden uses her business to tackle awkwardness and promote openness in every sale and interaction.
The Good Store supports locally made, practical goods for the Prince George and UNBC communities. Its partnership with Naughty Soap started with shared laughs and a shared mission to challenge taboos.
PGPIRG’s Executive Director Ashkan Pooya, Good Store Manager Jhoan Chavez, and Biden joined CFURadio last Friday for a good clean discussion about their collaboration and mission. - Ian Gregg, CFUR, Due North
