The City of Prince George is well positioned to become a major hub in the production and distribution of hydrogen fuel.
It was a topic discussed at the Future Fuels Forum January 14-15th 2025, where CFUR News caught up with Prince George mayor Simon Yu.
Yu explained that the city did not have to spend a lot of time pitching the region as a key location in hydrogen development, “We have already been identified as the hydrogen hub by the Province of BC as well as the federal government,” he explained.
Significant development in terms of fueling and energy infrastructure must take place to realize this potential, but rails and roads are already laid down. So far, partners in government and municipalities have been identified and Yu hopes, “the speed of a transition will start developing a little more rapidly from this point onwards.”
