Naughty Soap Company Cleans up the Good Store on UNBC Campus

Craft fairs and farmers markets offer alternatives to corporate shopping, as does the lesser known Prince George Public Interest Research Group’s (PGPIRG) Good Store at UNBC, now featuring hair and body care products from the local Naughty Soap Company.

Naughty Soap began with humorous penis and vulva-shaped soaps aiming to evoke laughter, and grew into breaking stigma around body conversations. Owner Michelle Biden uses her business to tackle awkwardness and promote openness in every sale and interaction.

The Good Store supports locally made, practical goods for the Prince George and UNBC communities. Its partnership with Naughty Soap started with shared laughs and a shared mission to challenge taboos.

PGPIRG’s Executive Director Ashkan Pooya, Good Store Manager Jhoan Chavez, and Biden joined CFURadio last Friday for a good clean discussion about their collaboration and mission. - Ian Gregg, CFUR, Due North

Northern Pride Centre makes drag show, healthcare gains on UNBC campus this semester

UNBC campus bore witness to a number of gains for the LGBTQ2SIA+ community this Fall 2024 semester as drag shows pick up momentum, selling out repeatedly, and gender affirming healthcare quietly became included in the student health plan. Healthcare plans don’t usually cause excitement but Northern Pride Centre President Bo White confirmed, “No. It’s a pretty awesome step towards having a more inclusive campus.” NUGSS, UNBC’s Student Society implemented the plan consulting with the Northern Pride Centre over the course of about a year. Both are excited to get the word out about this milestone over Transgender Awareness Week.  Check out the full interview below.
