Northern Static Series Season 2 has arrived!

We were lucky enough to be granted funding from the Community Radio Fund of Canada last fall to produce 8 unique Northern Static Series episodes! Nathan Kelly and Genevieve Tucker took the lead on the project working with artists from our community and Northern BC. New episodes will be dropping weekly on Wednesday’s at 8pm on 88.7FM, re-broadcasting on Sunday’s at 11am. All episodes can be found on here on our website, or mixcloud, youtube, or on podcast platforms under ‘Northern Static Series’. Stay tuned for episode 1 coming this Wednesday, May 21st!

Here is some more information about the Northern Static Series:

The Northern Static Series is a multi-platform music and storytelling project that highlights the diverse talent of Northern British Columbia and beyond. Produced by CFUR Radio on Lheidli T’enneh Territory, Prince George, BC,  the series showcases a vibrant mix of in-depth artist interviews, live acoustic performances, and personal reflections on previously recorded songs.

Each episode invites listeners behind the scenes into the creative world of emerging and established musicians—exploring their songwriting processes, recording experiences, and the realities of making music in a rural context. The Northern Static Series captures the sound and spirit of the North.

Broadcast on CFUR 88.7FM, podcast platforms, and social media channels, the project is built on a foundation of collaboration and community. Supported by volunteer training and media production mentorship, it not only amplifies the voices of underrepresented artists but also provides meaningful learning opportunities for aspiring broadcasters and storytellers.

Tune in to discover raw performances, honest conversations, and the heartbeat of Northern BC’s music scene.

Multicultural Heritage Society Children’s Festival returns from multi year hiatus

After a 16 year hiatus, the Children’s Festival has returned.

After partnering with the city, the festival follows a successful Canada Day event this past summer, and has a history in the community going back decades.

The Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park event intends to rejuvenate a focus on analogue person-to-person activities that children can engage in without advanced technology — for example, participatory dance, art, and skill development.

The festival takes place Saturday, May 31st, but plans are underway for a 2026 event, to be held on a school day. It is being organized by The Prince George Multicultural Heritage Society.
